Doris H. depicts her childhood in WGC and recalls her memories from the time before the war. Doris and her peers used to play in the fields and farms, and even sneak into Hatfield House when they were children, during adolescence they would pass time at clubhouses like the Peartree, Cherry Tree and the Shredded Wheat club. In those clubs they attended activities such as tennis, table tennis, football, netball and dancing. They attended yearly drama festival weeks and fancy dress parades and she went on camping trips and picnics with the WGC Guides.
