I was born in Welwyn Garden City at the Fretherne Nursing Home in Church Road (now The Doctor’s Tonic) in October, 1935. My father came to WGC in 1931 to join Norton Grinding Wheel. He married my mother in Birmingham in September, 1932 and they came from the wedding to their new house in Handside Lane.
