This illustation really speaks for itself and is lifted from the comic The Dandy of 14 June 1969. It won Tracey Ann Groves, of 17 Knella Road, a pair of roller skates.
In case you have trouble working out who is who on the page, the three faces at the top are from the left Sir Ebenezer Howard, the town’s founder, George Bernard Shaw, who lived locally and footballer Rodney Marsh, who grew up in the area.
In the middle are cartoons alluding to three local companies. They would be from left, Nivea; Shredded Wheat and Eylure.
At the bottom are the likenesses of local actress Flora Robson and Lord Palmerston who had connections with Brocket Hall.
