This picture appeared in the Welwyn Times just before its demolition on 12 May 1938 on page 6 along with the following comments:
“Work has started on the demolition of the old cottage in Woodhall Lane, to make way for road widening and the new houses now rapidly approaching completion. This picturesque survival of a more leisurely, pre-Garden City age is typical of the type of cottage built in Hertfordshire last century. There is no definite record of its age although it was probably put up during the “Scottish Invasion” of the middle of the nineteenth century to provide accommodation for a farm worker. The last occupant of the cottage was Mr. A. Cooper.”
