My views on Welwyn Garden

Jessica Williams

My name is Jessica Williams, I was born at the QEII in Welwyn Garden City on the 15th of July 2009. I have 2 older sisters and 1 brother (he is my twin).  We all live with our parents and our dog.

When I was younger I remember going to Stanborough Lakes to have picnics with my family. We also did fishing and bird spotting and we’ve been on the boats around the lake, luckily we never fell in the water but we’ve paddled in the water lots of times.  The council are building a new water park and a new play park there and they’ve also put high ropes in for the children. I was sad when they chopped all the trees down.

I love the fountain in the town centre but my favourite thing about it is when it’s summer and the water from the fountain spays onto you and cools you down.  At the moment it’s blue to represent the NHS.

My first ever time at the cinema was in Welwyn Garden City – at the Garden City cinema.  I was 3 years old and we went to watch ice age 4. The cinema is a lot bigger now with many more screens and a soft play for children I’m glad they kept roller city because I love it.

At Christmas time I enjoy the lights in the town centre, last year (2019) was beautiful and extraordinary, I especially loved the big bauble and the giant teddy bear. I live near Our lady’s catholic church and every year they put up a nativity scene I look forward to it every year.

My favourite place to go in WGC are: a big park down my home road called King George it’s were we go for family games.

My views on WGC now are it’s changed a lot because they have added many more shops and flats and there getting rid of green space which makes me sad because they are getting rid of some places to have have picnics with my family and friends.

When I’m older I would like town to have lots of green parks and some flats and big houses and somewhere for wildlife to flourish (like a wildlife centre) and I want lots of cafes and meeting places for friends.
