The Garden City Company’s symbol was designed by Mr R P Glossop and used to advertise Welwyn Garden City as a healthy place to live.

The square design showed a dolphin swimming in a stretch of water in the foreground. Above are tall cliffs surrounded by a hill on which stand some buildings and a church spire can be seen.

The publicity was slightly misleading as at this time the only part of the Garden City above 350ft was a reservoir, Welwyn Garden City has never had a church spire and there are no dolphins to be found…
