WGC Heritage Trust Industry Project
Heritage Roadshow - Saturday 5th April 2014
By Robert Gill
The Welwyn Garden City Heritage Trust’s current industry project has been running for 9 months and we have accumulated information on many of the WGC companies operating between 1920-1960 but, as ever, hope you can help us find out more! On Sat 5th April we are holding a drop in event in the Free Church in Church Road (opposite Sainsburys) between 10am – 3pm. Rather like the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow we are hoping that if you have any archive material relating to any of the WGC companies operating between 1920-1960 that you will bring it along to show us. We are interested in photographs, documents, letters, plans or other memorabilia and will have scanning equipment in order to copy any items that you bring along. Come along and take a look some of the the photographs that have been donated – you might be able to help us identify people – and items from companies such as Cresta Silks, Eyelure, Skarsten Scrapers, ICI, Norton Grinding Wheel, Murphy Radio & Lincoln Electrics. If you would like to help us investigate further, we have missing information that we would like to find out by the summer.
