The Cherry Tree
By Susan Hall
“Although no official completion date for the Cherry Tree buildings has yet been announced the work is making steady progress. This favorite corner of the old building (erected in 1921) will be the last to go, but it is likely that demolition of the pleasant old wooden structure will start during the next two months. An extensive verandah will form part of the new building.”
The above article appeared in the Welwyn Times on 24th August 1933 along with the first picture.
The second picture shows the front view of the Cherry Tree, showing the new design, this appeared in the Welwyn Times on 7 December 1933 page 5 with a report on the opening and first dinner and dance appearing in the paper on 23 November page 1 and 30 November page 2 respectively.
