This picture appeared in the Herfordshire Mercury on 27 July 1962 page 20, along with the following article:

“Looming over the charred remains of these buildings is the newly completed £1,800,000 hospital at Welwyn Garden City. The fire destroyed a range of constructors’ huts only 30 yards from the hospital on Monday evening. Three fire tenders arrived, but the wooden buildings were well alight, and the blaze was under control within 20 minutes. Almost all the contractors records were destroyed and the site agent had to race to safety after telephoning the fire brigade.”
