Parkway School

Vague Memories

By Richard Bailey

I was also a Parkway boy, but my memory of the school is slowly fading. I remember the massive log in the playground and walking to school by myself via Handside Playing Fields (wouldn’t do that today) Also can recall  walking in a “Crocodile” up Parkway to St. Francis Church, I assume for lunch. After which we all had to have a “Nap” on the floor covering ourselves with musty brown blankets. Teachers names elude me, but my best friend was Martin Lambert whom 66 years later, still is. I moved to Applecroft School, even nearer to my home and Mr Worthy was Head Teacher then. Happy Days!
