Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital

By Susan Hall

This picture appeared in the Welwyn Times on 24 December 1935 along with the following comment:

“This splendid Doll’s House, which had been used at the Film Studios in making “Hyde Park Corner” has been presented by Grosesnor Films Ltd. to the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital at Old Welwyn. The staff at the studio made a real job of this Christmas gift by collecting over £7 among themselves, half of which has been spent on toys for the doll’s house and the other half given to our own Cottage Hospital. The group (Left to Right) shows: Mr Collingwood, Hon. Treasurer of Welwyn Hospital; Mr Harcourt Templeman, Director of Productions, Grosvenor Films Ltd; Miss W. G. Smith, Matron of the Welwyn Gdn. City Cottage Hospital; Dr L. S. P. Wakeley ; Mr D. Murray, Manager of Welwyn Studios.”

I wonder what happened to the Dolls House!
