The following article and photo appeared in the Welwyn Times on 9th April 1929, page 8
“A demonstration was given on Saturday afternoon of the Urban Districts Council’s new Simonis fire engine. The net cost of the engine is £570 7s. 6d., the water-way equipment will cost £65 3s. and the personnel equipment £70 7s.
The engine was taken to Digswell Water, where the demonstration of the pumps took place, and afterwards another test was made off the Welwyn Garden City main in Parkway. The men of the local fire brigade assisted in the demonstration. Captain W. E. James, Mr W. C. Horn and Mr F. J. How were present.”
