A Pretty Wedding

This wedding photo appeared in the Welwyn Times on 18 February 1932 page 1, along with the following article:

” A pretty wedding took place at St Francis’ on Saturday when Lily May Catlin, daughter of Mr and Mrs Catlin, of 89 Guessens Road, was married to Mr Albert Cordery, son of Mr and Mrs E Cordery, of “The Chequers” Welwyn. The Rev. W. E. Hardcastle officiated.

Attired in an ankle-lenghth gown of ivory satin with headdress of orange blossom and white satin shoes, and carrying a bouquet of white carnations, the bride was given away by her father. She wore a string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom.

Miss Dorothy Catlin (sister), and the Misses Lily Furnell and Doris Munsey, wore ankle-length dresses of apple green satin with coatees to match, and wore green shoes, were the bridesmaids. They carried bouquets of daffodils, and wore headdresses of silver leaves. The bridegroom’s gifts to them were also a string of pearls. Mr Reginald Sutterby, a friend of the bridegroom, was best man.

After the wedding the many friends of the happy couple attended a reception held at the Guide Hut.

Mr Cordery, who is employed at the Welwyn Foundry, plays for the Welwyn Thistle Football Club. A clock, with candlesticks, was presented to Miss Catlin by the staff of the Welwyn Theatre”.
