By Susan Hall
This wedding appeared in the Welwyn Times on 21 August 1930 page 6 along with the following article:
“A pretty wedding took place on Saturday at St Mary’s Church, Hatfield Hyde, the Rev E. E. Crake officiating. The bride was Miss Doris Emily Oakley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Oakley, of 17 Ravenfield Road and the bridegroom was Mr. Wilfred John Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hunt, of 15 Sandpit Cottages.
Miss Oakley, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a dress of white satin draped with embriodered veil and orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations and fern.
The bridesmaids were Miss Florence Potter, friend of the bride and bridegroom, and Miss Peggy Oakley, sister of the bride. They wore dresses of blue marocain trimmed with beige, and silver shoes and stockings. They carried bouquets of blue sweet peas and gypsophila. Mr Leonard Hunt, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man.
The reception was afterwards held at the bride’s home.”
