“The wedding took place in Glasgow on Saturday of Miss Nancy McKend daughter Mr and Mrs Donald McKend of 50 Valley Road Welwyn Garden City, to Mr William Winning, son of Mrs and the late Mr Walter Winning, of 218 Kingsheath Avenue, Rutherglen.

The bride who was given away by her father, was dressed in ivory cloque designed with heart-shaped necline with close fitting bodice and full flowing skirt. Her veil was embroidered in silver and was held in place with orange blossom and tiny arum lilies. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and white heather.

The bridesmaid was Miss Agnes Greenshields, cousin of the bride and she was in pale green cloque with pink sash and headdress of pale pink roses and forget-me-nots. Her bouquet was pink carnations.

Mr Leonard H Winning, cousin of the bridegroom, was the best man and the officiating clergy was the Rev. E T Vernon M A

During the service the hymns, “O Perfect Love,” and “O God of Bethel” were sung and the wedding music from Lohengrin was played.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Ca’doro, Glasgow, and later in the day the bride and bridegroom left for Prestwick, on the Ayrshire coast, where the honeymoon is being spent, the bride travelling in a blue marocain dress and hat and lamb coat.
