“On Sunday at Lemsford Church, the Rev. H. Fort officiated at the wedding of Mr. John Ronald Heywood, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Heywood, of “Court Herbert,” Welwyn Garden City, and Miss Olive Mary Valentine d’Iffanger, daughter of Mrs. d’Iffanger, of Bayswater, London.

A large number of friends were present at the ceremony, and the bright sunshine helped to make an animated and picturesque scene.

The bride, who was given away by her cousin, Mr. Guy Graham, wore a picture frock with white tulle and silver, and a coronet of orange blossom, her bouquet consisting of white carnations, roses and lilies of the valley. The bridemaides, Miss Donnie d’Iffanger (sister of the bride) and Miss K Blair (friend) wore printed cerise chiffon dresses, with hats to match, and beige shoes and stockings.

They carried bouquets of pink rose and white carnations. Mr J. Atkinson acted as best man.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Cherry Tree Restaurant, where a very jolly party assembled. Good wishes were the order of the day, and expressed by members of the “peddlers” Concert party (of which the bride was a member) and also by the local social organisation, “The Rocket Club,” of which both the bride and bridegroom are members. The toast to the bride and bridegroom, proposed by Mr J. A. Heywood, the brodegroom’s father, was enthusiastically received, as also was the toast to the parents, proposed by Major Steward.

The Maisie Orchestra was in attendance during the reception, and everything went with a swing that was eloquent testimony to the popularity of the young couple. At the bridegrooms request, all the flowers on the main tablewere were afterwards sent to the Hollies Nursing Home.

The bride and bridegroom left by car for Bournemouth, where they are spending their honeymoon.”

There then follows a long list of guests who were present.
