This wedding photo appeared in the Welwyn Times on 14th october 1937 on page 10 with the following article on page 5:

“Many relations and friends, a number travelling from Wales, thronged the church of St Mary Magdalene, Hatfield Hyde, last Saturday, when the marriage took place between Iris Gertrude Hall, a member of St Michael’s Church and George Alfred Glasspool. The bride is the niece of well-known Peartree residents, Mr and Mrs B Davies, of 138 Broadwater Road, and the second daughter of the late Mr. J. G. Hall of Ffynone, Swansea. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Glasspool of “Beulah” Guildford Road, St Albans. Rev. J. P. P. Gordon officiated at the ceremony.

Wearing a Princesss robe of oyster satin with Medici collar and cuffs of lace, and halo of orange blossom, the bride was given away by Mr. B Davies. She carried a sheaf of white lilies. she was attended by bridesmaids Miss Maria Jones(niece of Mr. B. Davies), and Miss Nora Graves. Both wore mediaevil dresses of jade green taffeta with picture hats to match and carried posies of anemonies. Two little bridesmaids, Betty Glasspool and Moreen Toomey, wore dresses of pink taffeta with poke bonnets of the same material complete with muffs and decorated with white heather.

Mr Stanley Bereton was best man, and Mr Albert Davies acted as groomsman.

Mr J Sheppard was at the organ,playing “wedding March,” and “Londondary Air.” The hymns “The voice that Breathed O’er Eden,” and “O Perfect Love” were sung.

After a reception in St Michael’s Hall, attended by 90 guests, The couple left for a motor-touring honeymoon. The bride wore a rust-shade dress with tweed coat, complete with Angora hat to tone. The numerous presents included a silver plated tea service from the bride’s colleagues at Messrs. Beiersdorf Ltd, and a dinner cutlery set from the D.B. co., St Albans, where the bridegroom is employed.
