ICI and Ryelands/Howlands

Eric Goodwin

Is anyone active who was an apprentice with ICI from June or July 1964?  I would like to hear from friends there or in the Ryelands/Howlands area.

I completely lost touch when I moved to the Bahamas in ’73 and then to the USA in ’79.I remember Illana Bouscilla, Corrine White, David Spong. Philip Young, from Ryelands, and David Simmons, Roland Merry, Mike Clark,Colin Barnes, Michael Andrewarther from ICI.If any one reads this and knows some of these it would be nice to hear after all these years.I live in the US and can be reached at via this website’s editorial team – admin@ourwelwyngardencity.org.uk.

I remember moving to Ryelands in 1956 I think, and it was indeed a building site. Some of Ryelands was still to be built along with the houses on Howlands to the right hand side of the cut through. It was a boys’ paradise.
My dad had to rent a huge tiller to dig up the back yard and we could have built a house with the bricks buried there.
