Why I love Welwyn Garden City

Joshua Williams

My name is Joshua Williams, I was born at the QEII hospital on 15th July 2009. I live with my mum, dad, 3 sisters and my dog.

When I was a child growing up in Welwyn Garden City I remember going to the fountain in the town centre. We used to sit by the fountain and let the wind blow the water on us. I’ve really enjoyed the fountain being different colours over the years.

As we have a dog, we go to Sherrard’s Park woods quite a lot the last few years there’s been lots of children and adults leaving painted rocks for people to find and then re hide, we’ve really enjoyed doing this.

When I was a toddler I remember going to soft play city at the Campus West. I’ve also had  had a few birthday parties there and I’ve also been to lots of friend’s birthday parties there too.

In 2012 when me and my sister were 3 years old we went to the garden city cinema for our very first cinema trip, we watched Ice Age 4. We really like it there and love going to it still.

On the 11th day on the 11th month every year my mum took us to the town centre for the 2 minute silence to remember the fallen heroes of the 1st world war. If we was at school on the 11th we would always go on the Sunday for the service and for the parade and the last few years I been in the parade first as a cub now as scout.

Things have changed a bit since I was little, Stanborough Lakes now has high ropes and a new splash and play park coming. Lots of big factories over town have been demolished and replaced with lots of new businesses.

My views on the town today are its bigger since I was little and the town does more for kids for example Christmas lights, clubs at the library, cinema on the green and lots lots more.

My views on the future are that town will be busier with more shops with more houses.
