The wedding, which was at Wheathampstead Church , was conducted by the Rev. A.M. Baird-Smith, M.A. with Mr. R Seabrook at the organ.
The bride, owing to the disposition of her father, was given away by her brother. She wore a dress of Ivory satin with sunray pleated train and diamante yoke, and halo of pearls and orange blossom. Her bridesmaids were her sister Miss Alice Izzard and the bridegrooms sister, Miss Marjorie Poole, who wore dresses of pale green taffeta studded with diamante, with silver lame and white mittens.
The best man was the brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Mr Alan Cheyne.
After the service, which included the hymns “Lead Us Heavenly Father Lead Us” and “O perfect Love” there was a reception at Mead Hall, Wheathampstead, after which the couple left for a honeymoon in Devonshire. The couple will afterwards live in Newfields, Welwyn Garden City.
The gifts to Mr. and Mrs. Poole included a dinner wagon from their colleagues at the Stores.”
